Santo Domingo Taqueria | Our Story
Gloria, Abraham and the Mixteca
We're Gloria Martel and Abraham Carrasco, and we both come from the Region Mixteca of Oaxaca. Santo Domingo Taqueria is how we share those flavors with our neighbors.
Coming north
Abraham was 17 when he came to work the fields of California and Oregon. Gloria was 21 and worked in housekeeping, and both of us kept thinking about how to ease the poverty our families faced back home.
2006
We opened Santo Domingo Taqueria. A year later we took on the clothing and accessories shop attached to the restaurant, and working side by side kept our family together for ten years.
Our three children
The hours were long. Our three children studied at the university and graduated, and that's what the risks were for.
The restaurant today
We focus on the restaurant now, and we want to keep creating jobs in the community. Come sit on the covered patio and taste the Mixteca for yourself.
